It’s time for you to abandon blogigs.com and switch to blogger?
All I know is there’ll be pros and cons about web hosting — for free or paid. I know of a few blogspot blogs that are doing very well with PR5 and with good, readable content. You’re just making sense of the hosting issue and I agree with your thinking. Nothing wrong with that. I have blogspot blogs and paid hosting WP blogs as well. There’s alway this group of people in blogosphere who will always try to run down free Blogger blogs because it’s owned by Google. Wait one day when Google (with their spending power) steps up to turn Blogger into a more advance blogging platform, then we’ll see how the prejudiced ones react.
Blogigs is doing very well at the moment and I think if you continue with the same kind of thoughts you put into the posts, it will definitely grow. I prefer this blog more than your other blogs.
Thank You for the kind words, Marrk.
Don’t worry about it. It’s just a spur of the moment frustration of running into some errors after upgrading to WordPress 2.3!
Buying a domain and maintaining it cost money
A TLD (Top level domain) Costs around $1 SGD a month only. If you cant afford that, you should not even be surfing the net.

What? Only professional bloggers use top level domains? Domains give you a more personalized feel to your website. It creates sort of a sense of belonging to you. Hello? How on earth did you get that conception that only domains are for professional bloggers?

If you aint professional, who cares about page rank? And by the way, traffic is more important than page rank.
You don’t have to go through the hell of updating WordPress every 2 months.
You should stop blogging then. If thats troublesome, blogging just isnt for you.

As above.

You can simply abandon the free blog and you won’t loose a single dime.
Agreed. But if you know that you would abandon it one day, you would not even think of getting a domain nor host yourself.
Swift said my thoughts already. I think this article should be title, “How to Be the Underachieving Blogger You Always Wanted to Be”. Bad advice, bad article.
I think I was a bit short-sited with my last comment. For many people hosting their own domain may be too much for them to handle or more than they care to deal with…for many people it is overkill…. so I was wrong in my comment. My apologies. Helping others learn is a good thing and who am I to say this article will not help others… Again, my apologies.
Trace,
No need to apologise. My comments are opened, so everyone if free to state their views about what I said.
Buthen it would of course be better to read in between the lines when commenting for I might be implying on something else while writing on another.
Thanks for comenting!
