For many people hosting their own domain may be too much for them to handle or more than they care to deal with...for many people it is overkill.... so I was wrong in my comment. My apologies. And I am am no professional blogger, I just want my own identity. Sure having a domain needs money but everyone can afford it, I am only paying $25 a year for my hosting, so surely everyone can afford it. I have been hosted for about 4 months now and I have had only short outbursts of downtime of less than 5 minutes, so really I do not have any problem you are encountering. Upgrading to WordPress 2.3 is easy, I did it without much trouble at all. If you are unsure, there are always a lot of guides for you. Just to add on, I am hosting my own blog.
