A High Bounce Rate Could Mean High Clickthrough Rate

bounce-rate

A blog’s bounce rate, if you are new and wondering, is the speed rate your visitors leaves your blog. The faster they leave, the higher will be your bounce rate. It is as if your blog is like a trampoline and who ever drops on it will be bounced out, though in this case, they are bouncing out voluntarily and not automatically. Any visitors who spends less than 2 minutes in your blog can be considered a bounce.

Reasons can vary as to why people do not linger on but most agree that contents plays an important part in keeping the visitors. Another factor is the color of the contents background fonts. If you post is hardly legible, no one will want to stay even if your article is of the highest quality. Its suffice to say then, that blogs with a low bounce rates would be blogs that has a clean nice theme, has great contents and have tons of loyal followers who stays on to read every word written and make a comment or two.

Due to the constant reminders to keep the bounce rate low in order to show that you have a good quality blog, bloggers in their true sense, gets anxious when they see that their blogs are not keeping their readers in. They fear that would be Advertisers, should there be any, will not look favorably at their blog as those who wants to Advertise in any blog wants the maximum time exposure for people to view their Ads. Having a good and low bounce rate is a strong bargaining point when pricing their Ad spaces if a blogger is looking to selling Ad space in their blog.

There are however, blogs that relishes a high bounce rate. Against the norm, these blogs survives entirely by visitors leaving their sites the moment they stepped in. They might be getting tons of traffic each day, but more than 80% will not spend enough time to justify as a non bounce and they are happy when they see this high rate. It means visitors are leaving fast and the faster they want to leave the better. It also mean they will be looking for the fastest way out and the fastest way out is by clicking on their Ads. Thus a blog with a high bounce rate normally enjoys a better clickthrough rate than those whose readers stays on to enjoy themselves.

In practice, creating a blog with a low bounce rate is very much more difficult than one which bounces off visitors like a rubber ball. It might take years to build up a following large enough for the blog to survive effectively without them leaving your blog within one minute. On the other hand, if your sole purpose is to chase away whoever the instant they drop in, it would be easy. The only problem perhaps is to get enough people to come in daily for you to chase away. To survive that way, you must have new visitors each day, then you will have a ball of a time shooing them to the nearest exit. Make sure the doorway is clear and conveniently located though. If they leave via any other exit that then one you have prepared for them, all your efforts will be in vain :-)

Is it possible to run out of new visitors?I have been thinking how long would it take for that to happen. Cause a certain topic has a limited number of visitors!

Technically, if you have worked hard enough to get your keywords established in your niche, you can practically do nothing for the next few years and you will still see organic traffic coming everyday.

Certain topics attracts less interest and certain topic attracts more, but both has unlimited number of visitors, because new ones are born everyday.

The Internet is The World. The World has billions of inhabitants. More than half the World is using the Internet. Rest assured, your visitors will never dry out. It’s only whether you can attract them.

Good article, most certainly. I guess it is up to the blogger to attract readers to stay on their respective blogs and reduce the bounce rate.

Personally i think it is the content which makes visitors stick and back for more. The design of theme or template has not much significant to visitors; unless it is a screwed-up layout, full of broken links, tiny fonts and horrendous English.
Yes, it is the keyword which keep bringing in traffic daily. Most of my blogs are enjoying organic traffic from posts which I wrote years ago.

i wouldn’t say “bad contents” make money. it all bogs down to marketing. you must know who your readers are. you got to churn out stuff which they understand and can relate to. that’s why a lot of frustated folks who think they write “great stuff” in good proper english, but to dismal results, in terms of traffic and making money.
