The design of theme or template has not much significant to visitors; unless it is a screwed-up layout, full of broken links, tiny fonts and horrendous English. Yes, it is the keyword which keep bringing in traffic daily. Most of my blogs are enjoying organic traffic from posts which I wrote years ago. Personally i think it is the content which makes visitors stick and back for more.
