Affiliate Stores Do Not Need Fancy Themes

2008 June 14

I have been building some online stores of late. These affiliate sites and the program used to build these stores comes with default theme layout which we can use and personalize. These layout are of course simple and comes with no graphics or whatever fancy artwork so we can customize them the way we like it. To get ideas on how others are customizing their store templates, i visited some stores of the same genre and it always amazes me the talents some people have to really change the whole look of what they were given. I wished I had such knowledge to do what these people have done.

However on that note, I am also a firm believer in the teaching that if we want to sell something, we should attract the potential buyers attention to the fullest and not present them an opportunity to stray their attention on any other things other than those we intend to sell. With this belief, I refrain from adding any fancy graphics into the stores I started. For the past week, I started one selling skateboards, especially Element Skateboards to cater for the younger generation. It also uses the default layout but I customized it with my own header and used green as the primary color to symbolize freshness and the great out doors.

Another one that I finished doing caters for cycling enthusiasts where a complete range of Cheap Road Bikes are showcased. For this theme I used the universally well accepted color scheme of orange and gold as this store’s customers will be from all age group regardless of sex.

My favorite one so far has got to be the one I finished just this morning and one that I have high hopes of doing well with good sales every month. It is a Boxing Equipment store selling a complete range of boxing equipment and gear like Boxing Gloves and so on.

If you look at all these 3 stores, they use almost identical themes with only the header and the color being different. Many of us who builds sites like these, fear that their sites will look bland and boring, especially if they have many stores using the same layout. I would not worry too much over this aspect as different stores attracts different kinds of visitors so there are no fear of them looking at the same layout repeatedly. I have also kept the pages clean from any other form of Advertisements as I want them to concentrate on what are for bids on the very page they are looking in that particular affiliate store.
