I totally agree with your statement but I must say that all the shortcomings are human nature rather than the system itself. No doubt actual readership is important and getting to that point in a proud and noble way is very satisfying indeed. Sadly from my point of view, there is always this grey area and even if we choose to ignore it, we tend to lose that edge. Those you mentioned above is only the tip of the iceberg cause many so called lists are unseen. I have some ideas what we can do together as MyList participants once its over but that not only takes commitment but more importantly being able to agree on the approach and objective. As its always mentioned in PPP... SEGMENTATION! Yeah man.. that not only exists in opportunities but also the blogsphere and life in general as well. For me I do not see short burst results but rather long term and even whatever list will lead to more readers eventually... think about this point and I'm sure you'll understand what I mean.
