Politely inform this brain-damaged person that hot linking is not a condoned practice since images are removed or replaced, and that it’s not a right that you can sue over. He or she is responsible for downloading the images and hosting them on his or her server, compliant with copyrights of course.
That sites having “Copyright © blogigs.com 2007 – 2010 ” on the bottom, hold to the copyright to the content that is posted on the blog, hence you can’t be using anything hosting on the blog without the permission of the owner.
But now that I read more carefully into the letter, I see he is threatening you I would add “Go ahead, call your lawyer and tell him that you were so lazy to DL the images, that you hotlinked them, without even telling the owner of the blog. Basically I am the one who should be suing you for publicizing copyrighted content and stealing my bandwidth”
P.S I hope you have a medical bill, to cover your treatment
