Building Quality Backlinks.
The recent interest generated by one of my blogging friends with his novel idea getting bloggers from this country to inter-link one another had me digging for information about back links. Some has questioned whether this idea will backfire with Technorati banning all the blogs which took part and Googles delisting them as googlebombing. While I can’t really attest what Technorati will do as I have no idea what their criteria of delisting blogs are, Googles have expressed that while they don’t condone the practise of googlebombing, they tolerate it as it does not effect the overall quality in their Search Results.
While it is suffice to say that getting a lot of back links is generally acknowledged by amateur bloggers like us to get a good Page Rank, SEO gurus professed that it is quality back link that counts. Jim Boykin in his article, Why that site with 50 backlinks beats your site with 1000 Backlinks, provides a very technical refreshing insight as to why quality back links are better.
A backlink could be considered as a Quality Backlink if
1. The Theme of the backlinking website is the same as your website.
2. It links to your website with the keyword (keyphrase) that you are trying to optimize for.
Maybe we are all going about it the wrong way. Instead of blindly linking one another, with lots of non relevant links that no doubt will send Technorati Ranking higher as I have seen with my Rankings this morning , Googles won’t be looking at these links when their robots crawls our sites. But anyway, at least we get to interlink each other and make some new friends from the same corner of the sphere. That would amount to some increased traffic I think.
The problem now is how do we get all those links deemed to of quality. Brandon Hopkins.com has list of postings complied in his post 66 ways to Build Links, all written by well experienced SEO bloggers.
