Backlinks and keywords are the main course to traffic. Couple that with a good SEO Theme that takes care of every aspect of on site SEO will give you a big boost. Some says on site SEO is a small factor as long as you have a good set of keywords and do lots of link building with them. After using the Thesis Theme, I now see both as equally important. It might not be vary much if you have been using a good SEO theme all along, but the difference is very significant if you have been using a normal free theme prior to the change.
