There are some who say that the Frugal Theme although easy to mod and create unique layouts without any need for codes, there will be some cool things that cannot be done to the Theme like what they can do with the Thesis Theme. I too felt the same way initially but no more. What can be added to the Thesis Theme can also be added to the Frugal Theme if you know the codes to add and where to add them.

bold fonts

The easiest and most common way to make your blog theme unique even though the theme is being used by hundreds or even thousands of others is to make a unique blog header for yourself. Using Cufon Fonts In The Frugal Theme

Cufon Fonts For Frugal Theme

Cufon fonts are generated javascript fonts which you can use in your WordPress Theme even if these fonts are not deemed as web safe. Which means, if other computers do not carry these font type, they will still be able to see the fonts as it is and not revert back to their default. This is because the fonts that you have chosen to use have been re-generated as javascripts. Frankly, I have tried this many times before using the WordPress cufon plugin on other themes but it never seemed to work. This time however, I went the manual way.

Add 3 Column Widgetized Footer For The Frugal Theme

frugal theme

The Frugal Theme, despite all it versatility, has certain limits when you really want to do something a little but more special to it. In all fairness, you can already add many things to many different locations using the 4 custom widgets but when it comes to having a widgetized footer, the custom widgets will only allow you one single column which greatly limits your choice of what you want to be shown there. having a 3 column widgetized footer will solve this problem.

Should You Add Frames To Your Images

image frames
A favorite practice of mine when I have images in my blog articles is to frame the image with a border. Thus it is quite disappointing for me to note that many theme developers do not include this in their stylesheet. Even the Frugal Theme that I am using now do not provide for this, even though the option is there to frame the Thumbnails. The Thesis Theme does this wonderfully with the options under the post editor where I can chose whether to frame the image and where to place the image for each individual post. I seriously think the Frugal Team should include this in their future updates. It is a very useful feature for those who likes to include an image in their post.

Adding Thumbnails To WordPress 3 Default Theme

Written by Costa on July 6, 2010 - 2 Comments
Categories: Theme Modification Tips

Image thumbnails has been built in as default since WordPress 2.9 and of course the latest WordPress 3. However, even when the function is available, most themes, including the default theme, do not call up the function for reasons known only to the designers. Users would have expected that since the function is available, themes that claim to be WordPress 3 compatible should have this function enabled by default. Whether they use the function or otherwise is the user’s preference.

Professional Blog Logo designers will not be someone most of us can afford. A check using the Search term, Blog Logo Designs reveals that the cheapest you can get is no less than $200 and even that comes with certain limits. More reputable ones who has done logos for multinational companies carries a price tag of thousands. There are then sites that mass produce logos and selling them at quite an affordable price, but the downside is there is no guarantee that the logo you have chosen will be unique. A very useful tool that I have grown to love and cannot live without is the Firebug add-on for Firefox. I believe there is also something similar for Chrome but I am not sure if there is anything available that does the same job for other browsers.
