Elegant Themes Membership Price Increase

What can I say. There was no notification. No prior warning. No email. I logged in today to find that the price to join Elegant Themes has been raised from the previous $19.95 to $39 per year. I do not even know when that happened and it is very embarrassing for me as an affiliate to be in the dark over this matter. I had no chance to warn people about the impending price increase so they can join before the hike and lock in to the old pricing for at least one year. Offering a grace period and notifying all their affiliates before the increase would have been really nice. Sign-ups could have been doubled for that period as fence-sitters takes the plunge before the increase.

This theme is now powered by Frugal. After using Thesis for quite sometime now, I feel it is time for some new adventures with WordPress Themes. What better then, than to use the copy of Frugal Theme that I won some time ago. I had plans to use the Theme for another domain which I bought specially to try out the Frugal Theme but had a change of mind due to the recent spat between Thesis and WordPress developers. Kind of lost a lot of respect for the designer whom I used to worship.

Thesis Theme Goes GPL

After more than a week of hostility between Chris Pearson, the designer of Thesis Theme and WordPress top cat, Matt Mullenweg, things finally simmered down with the Thesis Theme finally adopting a split GPL for the Theme. In basic terms, this would mean everything that the Theme has to do with WordPress will be under GPL while all those that is the original work of the Thesis designer remains as property of the developers. Hope this do not sound too confusing. Frankly, I too am a little bit confused.
