cPanel WebHosting Pt.3 – The MySQL Database

The only time most of us ever touch the MySQL database in our cPanel is when we want to create a new database for a new blog. Other than that, the MySQL database function is left idle until one day when we decide to move our bog to a new host. Though most web host are helpful when we are moving, it does no harm to understand a little bit about moving our database so as to keep everything intact.

Frankly I have screwed up more than a couple of times when I moved from host to host and in the process lost most of my contents. I have come to learn that anything can go wrong, especially when you are living in a country with the most screwed up internet connection. Part of your database can simply go missing when you are doing your backups because of frequent line dropping.

This part of the Video series on cPanel touches on the MySQL database. I have to clarify however, that this is for more advanced users who understands a little bit about this subject. Those who has no prior experience with meddling of the database are advised to refrain from doing these things yourself. Buthen like I said, there is certainly no harm in knowing. You have to start somewhere.
