Do We Blog With A Goal?

Let’s face it. 90 out of 100 don’t blog with a goal and I think I am the king when it comes to blogging without a goal. I never felt the need to have a goal. I had a wish though. I wished I had thousands of readers so I can start monetizing this blog in a big way, but I did not make getting thousands of readers into a goal. So I blog with a wish, not a goal.

Of course I know wishes never comes true, but goals are not easy to attain either. Further more, goals have to worked for, wishes are free. We can wish as much and an many as we can and it won’t cost us a single cent nor lift a single finger. If there is a choice, what would it be? Of course I will choose to wish and I have been living in that wish ever since.

So day in day out, I kept wishing. I write a nice post which I like and which I think people will like, and I wished for thousands to come and read that post somehow. I wished news will leak out like, “hey everyone! there is a great post at Blog Gigs, make sure you guys go and read it!” I wished someone will broadcast it for me, free, of course and I actually believed that this wish will come true everytime I posted something. This wishful thinking is the only inspiration that has kept me blogging all this while. Even till today, even as I am writing this, I am wishing.

I don’t quite know whether the targets that I have set for my blog are goals or mere wishes.

I wish to achieve my goals, which is my blogging resolutions listed for this year. Will this be a goal, wish or resolution?

“Of course I know wishes never comes true”

Don’t be silly, wishes come true all the time! However, they do take some work and effort to MAKE them come true, but if you’re willing to take some extra steps, then soon all your dreams will be in reach.

Let’s say you wish for more subscribers and loyal followers. Instead of making “Get more subscribers” be your goal, set some goals that will help you ACHIEVE that wish, such as goals to promote your blog in a certain way, etc.

If you put your mind to it you really can make your wishes come true. You just need to sit down, write up some goals, and promise yourself you’ll stick with them and not lose hope. It does take work but it pays off when you have the feeling of knowing you did it!

I tend to do the same thing. It’s like I post and then go hmmm - where is everyone? Hehehe… sad but true. So I’m starting to put more effort into the actual promotion side along with the posting now though. I know some people that just post away, never do any promoting and get tons of traffic. Or the ones that really don’t care if anyone reads or not… and still get great traffic. Of course my blog is too new for any of that and I’m to impatient to just let it grow on it’s own…
