Does a statcounter help in Increasing Blog Traffic?

Again, probloggers always remind us to keep track of our statistics. There are literally hundreds of them out there and most you can get it for free but with certain limitations. Most free counters limits your log to 1oo hits. You can still see the number of hits you are getting, but you won’t be able to track them. The 100 figure includes all your blogs lumped together and not 100 for each blog.

SEO experts concludes that you spend enough time to analyse the results of your hits, you can actually work on what you have found out and increase traffic significantly. According to Deborah Ng , in her article, “Don’t Under Estimate the Importance of a Stat Analyzer” she actually learned a few things that helped her traffic grow from a dozen a day to more than 2000 a day! By analysing the hits from her site meter she learned that:

# Controversy brings in traffic.
# People don’t type like they talk. Many popular key phrases are grammatically incorrect.
# It pays to link to others. Reciprocal links bring in good traffic.
# It pays to add a link to your blog in your signature when visiting other blogs and forums.

I agree to most of the things that she learned, but do we need to depend on the site meter to learn all this? I do keep an eye on my meter reading and see where hits are coming from. I do also get a feedback as to which post or what kind of words brings in the most hits. That’s about as useful as it can get for me. Even with that information, I almost never follow up on it. maybe that’s why traffic to my blogs seems stagnated.

It doesnt bring in hits but I make a lot of use. One – To go find those new bloggers who linked to me and encourage them with some comments. (chey…like dem veteran like that). Two – To gauge what people look for and purposely go blog a few posts with those titles.

My statcounter doesn’t bring in hits, but by analyzing the information and using it to my advantage I can find ways to drive traffic to my site.

No, we don’t need a stat analyzer to tell us some of these things, it’s just a tool to assist in the process.
