Lets do a summary of what experts have thought about creating a successful blog and see if all that I have learned thus far has delivered or whether I actually have implemented.

To have a successful blog, after reading from so many sources, I discovered that they all preached almost the same advises though they might have a different approach. These are some tips that I found most commonly mentioned by every expert concerning on how to kickstart you blog.

1.

Use a Proper Domain Name.

Getting a meaningful Domain is easier said than done. All good names have either been taken or are going for a price beyond our reach. However, in my opinion, a Good Domain name does not have to mean names like “SEO.com” or anything like that. A good Domain name is a name that is easily remembered by all. That’s the reason you will never be able to get a 3 alphabet name for a domain. Every imaginable combination have been snapped up. Of course the shorter and spunkier the name the better.

Alternatively, if you cannot get a suitable name, you can always use your own name and even that has been taken up most of the time if you have a very common name like Tom, Smith or Jones. If all else fails, and you end up with a stupid name like the one I am using now, you can always Title your blog appropriately. That would be much better than having a nice but not very taggable Domain name.

2.

Write Lots of Useful Articles or Pillar Articles.

These are articles that will never go out of style. These articles or the topics written in these articles can still be applicable after many years. For example, what I am writing now can also be considered a pillar article, for if some new bloggers happens to drop by after one year and read this article, it will still be beneficial for him to know that he must write pillar articles in his blog.

3.

Update your Blog at least Once a Day

Being new and devoid of contents, this is good advise. A blog need lots and lots of contents for Search Engines to have something to search. Suffice to say, no one can write pillar articles everyday, but at least write something informative.

4.

Commenting on other people’s Blog

From experience, I think this is the most effective step to creating your own pool of loyal readers. Effects are normally felt after your third comment. People will be curious about you and they will almost certainly drop by your blog to check. If you keep commenting, you can be assured that you will become their friends, and friends lookout for each other, even in the blogoshpere.

5.

Tracking and Linking Back to other’s Blog Articles

If you really come across a good article, instead of commenting, try to trackback that article with a post in your own blog. You will be surprised that many of his or her readers will be curious as to what you said about that particular post and you will be pleasantly surprise the amount of people you can bait over.

The other tips like Joining a Blog Carnival, Submitting to Directories or e-Zines, don’t work particularly well for me because I just too plain lazy to do all those submissions. One last tip. Stumble your own Post.

hey, you’ve a nice and neat layout … does that qualify as a good comment? maybe yes maybe no … i always think commenting and socializing with others (out of malaysia pleazzeee) genuinely is the best policy to build the community & your blog - too bad malaysia is such a small population with a funny culture when come to self-expression …

cheers …
