For The Year 2010

Windows Of Apportunity For WordPress Users In 2010
Lots of blogs are offering advises on what and how to achieve your goals for the this new year and new decade, 2010. I, on the contrary have none for the simple fact that I don’t like setting rigid rules for myself and put my poor soul under unnecessary duress and stress. I like taking things as it comes and adapt accordingly as I have come to learn that in the Internet, you can’t really set fixed targets and goals.
Come to think of it, maybe I do have an advise. Forget about all those tips you read about how to go about setting and achieving your goals for 2010. Most of it are written for the sake of writing their first post of the year. Most of it are imaginary and I doubt the writers practices them themselves.
Why Some Affiliate Products Performs Better Than Others In 2010
In my policy of adapting to current circumstances, I have removed affiliate banners that are not performing well and will be looking into trying new ones for this year. I think it is important for those making money from affiliate products to identify which are the ones that goes down well with the visitors they are getting. Many laments that they cannot make sales but they do not really study their visitors preferences or the products they are promoting.
The Thesis Theme remains my biggest earner throughout the whole of last year. In comparing why other Themes do not do as well, I came to my personal conclusion that the landing page of the Thesis Theme is really far more convincing than the others. A good landing page plays a crucial part in converting the clicks you sent to a sale. Coupled by the fact that the Thesis Theme is being endorsed and used by many A listers, makes the product a trusted name that needs not much recommendation.
Then of course, ranking well for long tails relating to the Theme or whatever products you are promoting makes a huge difference. It is something that cannot be taught in writing because there is no specified rules as to how people search for information. You have to use your own guts to feel out these things, but there are some who insist that you can find those long tails with proper in-depth keyword research.
One thing for sure is you got to have a good understanding of human behavior and a good place to start is by looking at yourself, from the day you are a newbie to what you are now. Human mentality changes with time and knowledge gained along that time.
Link Building In 2010
Link building, the single most important aspect of getting a good Serps ranking is slowly by surely turning into a different ball game. The scenario is changing ever so much that I think a lot of link building strategies that we have been using will be quite worthless soon.
As it is now, links from social bookmarking websites and article directories are being kind of ignored by Search Engines. News has it that even links from places like Hubpages, Squido and similar sites are also suffering the same fate. Even links from comments you made in all those do-follow blogs are not being considered now. So are those keyword signatures you use in Forums.
Of course the age old argument is, a low value link is better than no links at all, so I guess people will still stick to what they have been doing to get those easy links.
I don’t really go link building these days, even for some of my newer blogs. I concentrate my efforts in coming up with long tail keywords that has not much competition so even if there are no backlinks, the post still shows up high in the Serps.
For an established blog like this one, there is no more need to build links. Post here have been frequently mentioned by other bloggers so there is a constant feed of natural links that are highly valuable and preferred by Google.
WordPress Themes For 2010
The news is out that by the time WordPress 3.0 is released, there will be a to replace the Kubrick Theme. This should occur within 2010 and the plan looks promising. Looking into possible replacements will be the , which is a bare framework allowing users to mod the Theme to their satisfaction. Though nothing has been confirmed yet, this Theme, if they really decide to use it, will make WordPress even more versatile. It might even give some WordPress Theme developers a run for their money.
Things do look kind of exciting for 2010 for WordPress users and bloggers like me. At least it will give me a lot more topics to write about modding the new WordPress Default Theme.
