Free Blog Tools - Social Bookmarkers

Social Bookmarking is the latest trend in traffic building these days and social bookmarking sites have been popping up everywhere. Many have the misconception that if we bookmark our blogs, we will be getting tons of referring traffic from that bookmarking site and for that reason, may get disillusioned when their stats shows otherwise.

Social Bookmarking is no doubt about building traffic, but it is the power of those sites that we ride on to get us the traffic that we want. Most of the time, it is not direct traffic from those sites, but Search Traffic, because these sites are more visible to Search Robots. So if we play our keywords right, we do get substantial traffic coming through them. Furthermore, it enhances the authority of our keywords and down the road, we will end up on the first page of Google Serps if we bookmark often enough.

The only bookmarking sites that shows real traffic coming to my blog here is Stumbleupon even though I bookmark my every post to more than 20 bookmarking sites. Digg is supposedly to be the server killer when it comes to referring traffic but not many can make it to the front page, but that does not necessary mean that your submission to Digg is a big waste of time. All your submissions to all the social bookmarking site plays a part in your search results, especially when you are out to build up an authority for a certain keyword.

There are many bookmarking programs on sale over the net that automates the tiring process of bookmarking our post individually. Some better ones even takes over the process of opening and registering an account for you at the various bookmarking sites and once that has been set up all you have to do is to click a single button and the program will submit your post to all the specified bookmarking sites. The down side of such a program is sometimes the success rate of submission could be rather low as these bookmarking sites constantly changes their submission algorithms to combat spamming.

For those who don’t want to fork out 97 bucks for an automated program, there are also many free submission sites that does the same thing albeit a little more time consuming. The upside is success rate is much higher is it is done manually. A big one that you can try out is Social Poster where you can submit to 64 bookmarking sites.

Although you will have to register for an account for each of the sites and bookmark them one by one, you save time on not having to type in the required particulars individually for each bookmarking site. All you do is to type in the normal details like the URL, The Title, Short description and Tags in Social Poster and when you click on the sites you want your post bookmarked, all the details will be filled up automatically for you. It’s going to take up a lot of your time if you are greedy and want to submit to each and everyone of the 64 sites. My take would be to choose the highest ranked ones and submit to those only.

My present favourite is Socialmatic. Even though I do use an automated program, I also use Socialmatic simply because it is free and it’s ease of use. Socialmatic lets you submit to 13 sites only but the success rate is almost 90% as it does not submit to the sites all at once. Submissions are done randomly.

The beauty of this site is you need only to spent time creating an account on your first visit. If you already have accounts with the bookmarking sites that are being offered, you save even more time during set up. Once you have your user name and your password for all the accounts, you can save them and the next time you want to do any submissions, all you have to do is to type in the normal details and SocialMatic will do the submissions for you automatically. You won’t see your submission being done immediately as like I said, the submissions are timed randomly. What I do is I submit and leave. The next day when I want to submit another article, I will check on the previous submission. Most of the time, I see only 2 or may 3 failed ones. Sure beats the $97 that I spent on my bookmarking program!
