Getting a Search Friendly Title for blogs is not easy.

Interestingly, wahlau.net commented that if we don’t trade links, it would be very difficult for bloggers wanting to have their links in their preferred anchor text from blogs who links them. This made me realised the mistake that I made when i first started blogging from my own domain sometime ago in September. I did not do much study on this aspect of SEO back then as I was quite sceptical that all those tricks would work in a personal blog like AhPek.com.

Before the MY List started, I had already build up a base of about 180 linkbacks from blogs that have some liking to what I write in AhPek.com. I regret now that i should not have titled my blog then as simply AhPek.com though my URL is in that name. Should I have titled that blog with some other Search Friendly name, I would have a lot more search traffic to that blog now.

I don’t know if it’s too late now since everyone seems to know me by AhPek now. Just go to show that we must really consider carefully the title of our blogs before we start. Once we gets accepted by that name, it’s difficult to to get others to change.

That being said, finding a suitable Title that would not compete against the big boys is also no easy task. I think I am also making a mistake with this blog for using the phrase “How to blog better” as the anchor text for links to this blog. A search on this term reveals 282 million hits and I don’t know how deep it would be buried.  Likewise for the phrase “Making a Living” that is being used for my “Old Things” Blog. It’s buried within 340 million hits, but since this 2 blogs are so new with minimum post inside, I am willing to wait it out and see how things will turn out.
