Google is going on another round of bitch slapping. Two of my blogs which got relegated a few weeks ago, got slapped again and had their ranks demoted further. This time the punishment seems a bit more severe and even problogger.net got a 2 rank demotion from 6 to 4. John Chow dot com suffered further humiliation by getting another slap bringing his blog to a PR 4
Curious, I went a page rank digging on some of the blogs in my blogroll which carries some Ads, to see who got what.
Dosh Dosh – PR 4
Andy Beard - PR 3
Techcrunch – PR 8
The Blog Herald – PR 4
Mashable – PR 7
Shoemoney – PR 6
Daily Blog Tips – PR 5
copyblogger – PR 4
Looks like a good portion of the big guns got demoted a rank or two with only Techcrunch and Shoemony hanging on real well, buthen these blogs are already so established with a such a vast readership base that I don’t think they care too much about their Page Rankings at all.
The way things are going, selfish as i may sound, I feel a little bit good about my PR 3 blog. When before it had a 5, Problogger.net was ranked 6. Since now Problogger.net has been relagated to 4, I think my PR 3 is very much justified.
If this is the trend that Google is going to set, then PR 4 blogs will be seen as “powerful” blogs in future. We all know the popularity of blogs like Problogger or Copyblogger or even Dosh Dsh and many of us takes their ranks as a benchmark to measure our blog’s sucesses. If they got a 4, I will be happy with a 3 or even a 2.
It will be interesting to see how it will effect the cost of links that are being sold in our blogs and the price of the reviews that we writes once the dust settles. Will those selling text links and those offering paid posts adjust their prices accordingly or will they be turning to other methods to determine how much a blog’s links or reviews is worth.

My tech blog dropped 1. Damn.
I don’t want to care anymore. My .com blog is 0. That is consolation… when you are at the bottom, you can’t go further. lol
I agree with Helen, we shouldn’t care about it anymore. As long as your visitors are happy and keep coming back.
