After my “enlightenment” I have been concentrating quite a lot on building Affiliate Stores. Though I have not totally abandoned the hope that one day this blog might earn me some beer money, I know the really serious one will not be coming from this blog in the near foreseeable future.
In the course of my journey into this genre, I learned many new things that I previously thought otherwise and one very valuable lesson was to keep things simple and laser focused on whatever I am trying to sell or promote. A big factor towards achieving this goal is to keep our blogs or sites as simple as possible. My very good buddy Grizz would rather say “keep it ugly” but I digress as I do not like to call things that I have created, “ugly”. I prefer to call them “simple and plain”. LOL.
I have tried and I have received encouraging results, that when we want to target something, we focused on one particular target. If you watch National Geographic often enough, you would surely have seen how the cheetah, fastest running animal on earth, focused on getting his meal.
On the vast African Plains, there are so many ready targets for the cheetah. There are herds and herds of animals that can provide the cheetah with a good and fulfilling dinner. However, the cheetah will never go and waste his energy chasing every single herd that it comes across. It stalks each herd patiently until it comes across one that has one particular member that the cheetah feels it has a hundred percent chance of capturing.
Once it locks its target, the cheetah charges at it with all his energy. Other animals within the same herd may be right in front of it, but the cheetah will ignore them and go full heartily after the animal that he has already locked on. Nine out of ten times, the cheetah gets his deserved reward.
Likewise, when we are planning to sell something online, there are a million items that could be sold and due to the greedy nature of all humans, we try to sell everything, not wanting to let off even one single opportunity, totally forgetting the wisdom of the cheetah in ignoring the very animal in front of it’s track and going after it’s intended target sole heartily.
Out of the million items available, let’s take a very common and hot selling item, the women’s handbag as an example. Like the cheetah that has forgone the other herds and concentrated on one, we forgo all other items and target women’s handbag. That’s good. Or is it? No if we decide to sell the whole range of women’s handbags! The cheetah is not going to chase every single animal in the herd. It will only be chasing on single animal that he has confident of catching and there is where lots of us go astray. We should have concentrated on one single brand of women’s handbag that is least sold by people elsewhere and that is akin to the one single animal that the cheetah went after within the whole herd of hundreds, ignoring whatever is in front of him.
I do not know what drove me to write the above analogy, but maybe I just wanted to make clear the very basics and the mistakes I made initially before becoming a ” baby cheetah” myself. Grizz has just started a tutorial on Make Money Online and I hope after reading what I have wrote you will have a better perspective of what Grizz is gong to teach. I hope I can meet some of you there quizzing Grizz and picking his brains for free. You don’t get these chances very often these days. Everyone is charging something for their knowledge.

Thanks Costa and great analogy – to the point and exactly what’s needed when it comes to selling online.
ps… I like the “plain and simple” look!
Plain and simple, LOL, learned that from you my friend.
