How to create a not so successful blog

by Costa on August 11, 2007

I have limited ideas on how to create a successful blog. However I do have plenty of experience on creating blogs that are not very successful but can be happily maintained because we have some loyal followings which never seems to grow in numbers. From these blogs, we can also happily write some paid reviews, earn some small change from selling a little bit of text ads or get cheques from Adsense once in every 3 or 4 months which we can show to all our loyal readers. Here are few of my secret formula if you are interested. It’s completely stress free and very easy to implement.

Get your own domain

Yes, these days, even if you don’t plan to be successful, you still have to have your own domain if you want to happily write some paid reviews. Of course you can still be happy with free domains, but the joy won’t be as high as having a personal domain. However, to be happy, we don’t need to think of names that are suppose to be SEO friendly. Just any name we fancy will suffice, because to qualify the blog for writing paid posts, the name of your domain is never taken into account.

Choose a really beautiful Theme

Anything that catches your fancy. Don’t worry about what your readers like. You are the domain master and the blog is yours. Don’t worry about the codes or if it is Search Engine friendly, as we will not be dependant on Search Traffic.

Don’t Bother Learning new Tips

There is no necessity to go scouring for tips from blog gurus and learn all the tricks on how to attract readers, get subscribers, write good posts and all those messy and troublesome things that will make your blogs more successful.

Don’t learn any codes

If you observe all those successful bloggers, most have good knowledge of programming codes and those who does not, makes it a point to learn at least the basic so they know how to tweak their blogs to the max. There is no need for such silly things if you follow my advise.

Write Whatever that comes to mind.

Planning and thinking yourself silly of catchy titles and writing post that will entice your readers are very mind numbing and can seriously shorten your blogging life. It takes away all the simple pleasures of blogging. There is no need to put ourselves into so much stress. Just write whatever you fancy. It’s your blog, remember? Tell your readers what you had for breakfast. Write about your tummy ache. What you cooked. Tell a silly joke. Practise cut and paste. As long as you post something that you are happy with everyday.

Don’t reply to Comments

It’s very time consuming to answer each every comment and there is no joy in doing so. maybe if you fell obligated, you can just reply with one common answer to all your comments and that is, “Thanks for your Comments” Even that, I rarely do.

There are many more tips that I can offer from my experience, but I can sum it up in one paragraph. We can have a blog, enjoy blogging and make a little money if we just simply write away without a care in the world. So they have 20,000 visitors and we have 50, what’s the big deal. They have to waste hours in front of their computers thinking of good post titles and topics that will attract more readers. They have to go trough great lengths to make their blogs popular. They have to spend hundreds to buy reviews, text links, press releases and other whatnot’s. We? We are happily blogging away for our 50 readers. We take a couple of $5.00 reviews and makes about 30 cents from Adsense daily, but we are happy and we are stress free and that’s the way blogging is suppose to be…… I think… apart from the money making part.

I have done my best in producing a few not-so-successful blogs. One of it is attracting someone-whom-I’m-supposed-to-know who says that I have to change lines because I’m whiny. Gee, I thought that blog is meant for me to be whiny?

Must be cool to attract such a person after nearly 200 posts for this new own domain too.

Erm, something wrong here:
“Yes, these days, even if you don’t plan to be successful, you still have to have your won domain if you…”
