You can turn your WordPress Theme into a mini shopping cart selling downloadable ebooks or scipts. All you need is a good checkout system that allows you to receive payments and automate the downloading process of your products. I have experimented and found the 7 Dollar Script a perfect and yet affordable script that allows me to convert my WoprdPress Theme into a small shopping cart.
To make a WordPress Theme Shopping Cart, it is best to have a mimilistic theme without any fancy sidebars. The best Theme to use, in my opinion is the default Kubrick Theme that comes with your WordPress installation. The copy that comes with the latest 2.7 version has been greatly improved and it looks like it can take a beating.
What makes the default Kubrik WordPress Theme perfect for converting is due to the fact the the Single’s post page has no sidebars and is a one column layout. This will enable you to make each single post into a perfect looking sales page that you see every so often in those make money online sites. The rounded corners also gives it a Web 2 look that is very popular among Internet Marketers nowadays. All you have to do is to make a professional looking header to suit your products. It beats having to make a completely different site from scratch altogether.
The next compulsory script that you need to make a shopping cart from your WordPress Theme is the 7 Dollar Script. This is a very simple script that you can incoporate into your Theme. All you have to do is to upload the script into a new directory or a new folder within your root directory where you have installed WordPress. Of course there are some simple configurations to be done before installation of the script but anyone with a rough idea of setting up a html site should be able to figure it out quite easily.
Basically it is only a 3 step process if you keep it simple. You write a normal post about whatever you want to sell, include some images or testimonials if you want to. Add the “Buy Now” button image and hyperlink that button with the original codes found in the Salesletter template within the script. The script which you have installed in your new directory will come into play the second they click on that button. This will trigger the action where the buyer will be taken to the PayPal checkout page.
After paying, the buyer will be asked to return to the merchants page and they will be sent to the opt-in page or the squeeze page. There they can either opt in to your mailing list or go directly to the download page. All this takes less than 10 minutes and you will see the money in your PayPal account immediately. It’s very much better then doing affiliate sales or other online business where you might have to wait months before you actually get your commissions
I have actually turned my Small Business Internet Marketing Blog into a WordPress Shopping Cart. There a few pages where I sell some of my own products and there are some which I propagate affiliate products. If you want to see and feel how a WordPress Theme Shopping Cart looks like, go to the page where I am selling the 27 SEO Video Tutorials, click on the “BUY NOW” image and you will see the first phase of the action.
You can always click your back button after getting a feel of how the script works. If you want to see how the whole process works, you will have to buy the videos, but they are good Videos and definitely worth more than the 10 dollars that I am selling them for. To make your WordPress Theme Shopping Cart you will have to get the 7 Dollar Script first.
