How to plagiarize without plagiarizing

So many “How to make Money” blogs have sprouted up lately all wanting to be the next John Chow or the next LiewcF. I don’t blame them. In fact I too dream of becoming as successful as them, BUT, I try not to be LIKE them. If you have surfed around these blogs, you will notice on thing. They tend to use the same themes as those successful bloggers or at least modify their themes to look almost similar to them. It’s okay I guess. When something is successful we ought to follow.

Using the same themes as those successful bloggers is not a problem, the problem is they start using their articles as well. Now that is the lowest thing a blogger can do, to copy and paste someone else article and passing them as their own. It is very naive to think that you will get away with it. If you have red the article, million others would have read it too. Remember, it’s the World Wide Web.

It’s okay to share good information in your blogs. In fact, it is a fantastic way to keep your blog going, but you don’t need to rip it from someone raw and then keep quiet about your stealing ways, misleading your readers to think that the idea is solely yours. I too do a lot of copying and pasting here, but I make it compulsory to let readers know where the ideas originated. I don’t take the whole article and dump it here. I block quote part of the article and makes it clear that the author of this article is so and so. Doing this brings benefit to my readers as well as the original writer as all those who caught part of the article will surely head that way to read the full post and the original author might even thank you for it.
