If you have followed my previous post on how to create you own simple template, you should by now know how to create one on your own. Continuing from where I left off, we shall discuss in this post what are the templates inside the 7 Dollar Script that we will be using and what are their functions.
If you have not downloaded the 7 Dollar Secrets which gave you the script for free, then I am afraid you will not be able to follow what I am talking about. For those who have the script, let’s take a look at what is inside. I will give a brief description on the function of each of the templates.
Inside the 7 Dollar Sript folder you will notice that there are another 2 folders. One is the images folder and the other is the template folder. It is what is inside the template folder that we are interested in. The rest of the files should not be touched or edited. So open the template folder. You should see 11 html files and 6 text files. The text files are to be left alone. We only need to edit 3 html files when we plan to use the script with our WordPress blog. If you intend to use the script for a full fledged mini site to sell your products, then you will need to edit a few more. Here are a brief description of the html files.
Salesletter
If you are planning on a mini site on it’s own, this is in fact your landing page. Anyone who types in your URL will see this page. You waste no time in doing your sales pitch here, hoping you will be convincing enough to get the visitor to click on the ‘BUY’ button at the bottom of the page. If the visitor does click, they will be sent to PayPal where payment will be made.
We will not be editing this file as our sales will be done in our Blogs, but we have to copy the link for the BUY button so we can use the same link for our sales post in our blog.
Squeeze
Once payment have been made, they will be advised to click on the ‘Return To Merchant’ link in the PayPal page. Clicking that link will send them back to your Squeeze template.
The Squeeze page will have an opt in window so if they wish, they can subscribe to your emails. You can then notify them of any further products that you have put on sale. It is primarily an email harvesting page to build up your email list. To show that you are not an mail scammer and you are not forcing them to subscribe, they are provided with the direct product download link at the bottom of the page.
We will be using this template.
OTO
OTO stands for One Time Offer. Whether the buyer has opted in for your emails or otherwise, they will be sent to this page when they click on the product download link. The header will normally says that you will only see this page once and if you miss the offer, you will not get a second chance to buy the product ever again. It is a marketing gimmick used by many Internet Marketers to great effect. It takes advantage of human greed and their indecisiveness because normally the product will be related to the one that they had bought.
We will not be using this template.
Download
This is the final page. The download link will be given with instructions on how to download their product and the time limit they have to do so. If you allow the buyer to be an affiliate, then they can insert a few email addresses of their friends to help sell your product.
Depending on your configurations later on, you can specify how much you are willing to pay your affiliates. Many Internet Marketers lets their affiliate keep 100% of the sales price from their front end product. They, on the other hand keeps all the proceeds from the One Time Offer. Some generous ones will even give 50% commissions from the sale of the One Time Offer. So it is your choice.
Definitely, we will be using this, but since we are not going to have a one time offer, we will not be using affiliates.
Downloadexpired
The page that the buyer will be sent to if they try to download their purchases after the time span set by you.
The rest of the templates are not too important to what we are doing here so I will skip them. They are self explanatory and if you open them in your browser, you can see what it says inside.
Next up, we will copy and paste those necessary files into the template that we have created earlier on. I will also discuss on the links to be edited so that it will work within our WordPress blog. If you haven’t downloaded the 7 Dollar Secrets, it is best you do so now.

When I see a squeeze a page, the first thing that jumps on my mind is scam, maybe cause now days every scammer is using one and it’s giving it a bad name!
But I am looking for a similar a script for a my cousin! She is a photographer and we would wanna make her a site with Downloadexpired links because she wants to sell event photos. Apparently that’s hip right now in L.A
I think most online shopping scripts have that feature these days.
Honestly, if she plans to sell lots of Photos, it will be better to get a full fledge shopping scrpit where she can have shopping basket features and all. She will make more sales this way.
The Script I mention here is only great if you are selling one or two items at a time, but it is perfect if you plan to sell an eBook or two in your blog. Plus it’s dirt cheap and very easy to use. Perfect for mini sites too.
Yeah I guess I would have to set up an OsCommerce! Would be just more work than I expected
Btw do you notice any dramatic traffic increases? Cause according to Alex-a yesterday I dropped below the 1st million in traffic rank.
LOL. Mitco, I thought you knew better than to trust Alexa’s ranking.
Actually I can’t trust any site statistics because none of them match at all. Even google analytics shows strange stuff most of the time and doesn’t record half of the traffic.
Google being ranked #1 on Alexa seems correct
Very useful, thanks. Any reason why you arent planning on using the OTO?
no particular reasons, it’s just a personal opinion that pushing an OTO to someone who has just purchased something appears as though he is being milked.
If you know what I mean…
