Another week and it’s another theme. I have plans to monetise this blog so I guess a 3 column theme will be more appropriate. Talking about monetising one’s blog, the first thing that comes to mind will be Google Adsense. Fact is I have been using Adsense for sometimes now in all my other blogs and I don’t seems to have much luck with it. Many have professed that they make a few hundred bucks each month from adsense alone and they really make me wonder how they achieve that. I will be happy if I can make $30.00 each month.

I have studied the way the places their Ads. I have read all the tips given by Adsense gurus like Joel Comm but what they have to offer is noting but well known tips that are flooding the Net. There really is no secret formula and I don’t think even Google can control who gets ads and what kind of ads. All it boils down to is traffic. If no one comes to your blogs, they won’t be anyone clicking on the ads. It’s as simple as that! So in order for all their “best kept secrets” to work, we must first attract as many people to our blogs as possible. Once the readers are in, everything will be easy. “Secret formulas” will be easy to implement.

The most secretive formula that gurus teach you is how to place your ads. Some unknowing ones will actually pay for that information. The only difference is they phrase their tips very colorfully. If you read in depth what they have to say, it all boils down to the same thing. Blend your Ads with your blogs. That is the secret formula. Do you think we should pay for that kind of info?

These gurus will make big claims like how they increase their Adsense earning 10 folds within 3 months. I mean, come on, how can you do that without increasing your readership 30 folds? It’s a well known fact that out of every 100 visitors you might only get1% of them actually clicking on your Ads. So out of every 1000, you might get 10 clicks. Do anyone have a secret formula where I can increase my readership 30 folds within 3 months? I sure would like to know.

Of course there are tricks that teaches us to increase our earnings by getting high paying Ads to show in our blogs. That at least sounds a bit more feasible. If all the 5 clicks I get pays $1.00 instead of 2 cents, I will be making $5.00 instead or just 10 cents a day. That’s a vast difference. It is easier said than done. Filtering out those “Made for Adsense” Ads that pays 1 or 2 cents is no easy task. Even if you succeed to catch some, Adsense only allows you to filter out 200 URLs at any one time. I don’t think anyone has that kind of time to sit and watch over their ads and trying to figure out whether it pays high or low.

There are software and sites that can do that though I doubt if it’s really that sharp to figure out which are the sites that will show in your blogs. What they have is a big database of “Made for Adense” Ads and if you punch in your blogs keywords, the program will deduce the kind of Ads that will appear. All the URLs can then be copied and pasted into your Adense filter. I have tried that and let me tell you it didn’t work for me. First, the blog I tested it on was a personal blog with no special keywords that I can relate the blog to. So i could not supply the software with the most appropriate keywords. I think hat was one reason why it did not work for me. Niche blogs might fare better.

Anyway, whatever it is, do be prepared to see some ads here tomorrow and I do hope to get all your support with whatever Ads that I will be placing here.
