Is Your Theme WordPress 2.9 Compatible

As in every WordPress upgrade, the issue that worries a lot of WordPress users is whether their Theme is compatible. In this case, there will be lots who will be asking if their Theme is WordPress 2.9 compatible, and to those who are holding back from upgrading because of this, you can rest assured the WordPress 2.9 upgrade will not break anything.

If your theme runs smoothly with the version you are using now, there is no reason it should give you any trouble when you upgrade. Provided of course, you have been upgrading whenever there is a WordPress upgrade. I think I can safely say that any theme that do not break with WordPress 2.7 should have no problems with WP 2.9. The only thing missing will be the newest included feature like those discussed in my previous post.

Some plugins may cause problems though, but recent versions of WordPress has been made so smart that it can detect a conflicting plugin and automatically stop activating them if there is a conflict. So far, for my theme here, only the tweetmeme button is not displaying after the upgrade, though it is activated.

Put your worries aside and go upgrade to WordPress 2.9.

I really hate upgrading! I have no Theme problem, but my plugins experience change of heart :) + I have tweaked few myself, so every upgrade overwrites my code, so I have to redo it!

I wanna cry, this is what’s happening over and over http://stop-by.com/mitko/Problem.jpg looks like some kind of preview! It happens so often i have hard time writing an article! What do u think this is?

      Hi Mitco,

Sorry to hear you are having hell after the upgrade.

Have you tried temporary changing your Theme to the default one to see if those errors disappear?

  3. Mitko says:

Yup, I spent the past 6 hours in trying all kinds of stuff, finally fixed it! The problem as you have probably seen on my blog is the plug-in called YARPP! for related articles below a current article! I suggest if anyone is using it, to keep this in mind :) unless they wanna experience my roller coaster for few hours

    First upgrade to WP 3.0

    De-activate all your plugins first.

Then try to activate any new themes that you have downloaded or the default WP 3 WordPress Theme, called Twenty Ten.

I don’t think it is a problem with WordPress. Has to be some external script that you are using.
