WordPress 2.7 has so many improvements than some plugins that was used before this version has became irrelevant. The 2 most notable ones that use to be very popular before WordPress 2.7 are the Threaded Comments and the WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin.
WordPress 2.7 supports threaded comments and automatic upgrades by default. Your WordPress Theme must be 2.7 compatible to use these 2 features. For threaded comments, the function is de-activated upon installation. If you want to use it all you have to do is to go your “discussion” settings and check the “Enable threaded (nested) comments” then choose how many levels you want the discussion to nest.
The WordPress Automatic Upgrade is located under “Tools – Upgrade”. It is a very powerful and convenient tool considering the fact that WordPress is updated ever so frequently. There is however a small issue for those who has been using the Automatic Upgrade Plugin. This plugin conflicts with the default feature so if you try to upgrade using the default feature, you will get an error. The solution to this is simple. Simply De-activate the WordPress Automatic Upgrade Plugin before you upgrade with the default Upgrade.
It took me less than 5 seconds to upgrade to the latest WordPress 2.7.1 using the default Upgrade feature.

My automatic upgrade worked well, even with the Automatic Upgrade Plugin turned on. The best thing I like about 2.7 is threaded comments and paginated comments.
Hmm.. I wasn’t so lucky. Of all my blogs that I had installed the Automatic Upgrade Plugin, not even one upgraded successfully. Had to de-activate the plugin for all of them before I could proceed smoothly.
I used subversion on 7 blogs. It took like 5 minutes because I had to traverse all the directories by hand in SSH. No fuss, no muss, no bother. The hardest part was type cd ..
Thanks for the heads up.
