Jim Kukral Cheated Me!

I was blog hopping. I came across a comment left by Jim Kukral in some blog that he has a surefire way to bring tons of traffic to my blog and I don’t have to do a single thing. All I have to do was to sign up with his newest money making baby, Blogbucks.

In case you don’t know who Jim Kukral is, he is the guy who gave us the Scratchback tipping widget that you see in my sidebar. He is a well respected blogger and many who writes paid reviews or out to make money with their blogs looks up to him for tips and advise. So I did not expect him to pull a fast one. I mean, like hell, he even tipped me and I follow his blog closely via my feedreader.

Anyway it was part greed, part laziness and part curiosity on my part that I fell for the con. I followed the link to Blogbucks. It was a profesionally done spoof of the landing page of BlogRush with a demo video and all. I clicked on the video and it was so “informative” Still blinded with greed, laziness and curiosity, and never in my life thought such an ingenious con could be cooked up by anyone, I signed up. It was just too simple. Just fill in my email and that’s it and like always, I have to confirm my participation by clicking on the link e-mailed to me.

Okay, this should take me to some form where I will fill up all my blog’s particulars and all, or so I thought. When I clicked on the confirmation link, I landed on Jim’s blog. Hey, something is wrong. Did I click the wrong link? I went back to check my email, and there, waiting for me, was another message from Jim.

You know Jim Kukral, I’m going to strangle you someday if ever I get the chance to meet you. Can’t you have just waited for next April to pull off something like that?

ROTHFLOL at myself. Looking forward to all your tips Jim. Thanks!

  3. Great article,

For a while I actually thought it was a legit complain. Love it when humor put to work :)

  4. You know this was real good linkbait! :)

  5. A lot of time and effort went into that linkbait. The only reason I did not sign up myself was because I am not a big fan of Blogrush (In it’s current stage), otherwise it would have got me too.

    Pretty clever.
