Daniel form Daily Blog Tips released his latest Wordpress Template code named the BlueSensation WordPress Theme today. Like always my terrible weakness for new and pleasant looking themes got the better of me yet again and I had to put this theme up just to see if it fits my eye. LOL. It’s eye pleasing alright, but there were some small issues that I personally have, (others might not mind it though) with this new Template.
As in all of Daniel’s previously released Theme, 2 of my favorite functions were not included. One is the image align functions and the other, the edit post link. Even though WordPress 2.5 allows us to align images when we inserts them, without the codes in the stylesheet, the image align functions never works. I had to insert the codes manually and along with those for Aligning Image With Your Style-sheet, I added another line - img.noborder {border:none}, so I have an added advantage of removing the default borders if I do not like them. There are also some other extra styling codes that I added, but that’s for my own ego only and are not often used.
My most used function is the sorely missing, the edit post function. This function allows me to make corrections to any spelling or grammar mistakes on a lot more easier. One click on the link and I’ll be at the post editor. Don’t know about you, but I do make lots of mistakes even after reading through my drafts 3 times. Somehow, it only becomes visible after publishing the post. If your theme also do not have this function, these are what I inserted in the Main Index and the Single Post files.
<?php edit_post_link(’edit this’, ‘<div class=”edit-this”><span>’, ‘</span></div>’) ?>
Just open your Index php or your Single Post php and paste them just before the <div class=”postcontent”>. A small link with the words “edit this” should appear somewhere after the post meta.
Another issue I had was with the widgets and I do not know if it is on my side or if it had something to do with this theme. The three widgets that I was using on my previous theme is not available anymore. At my Dashboard, it says I am using 7 widgets but when I open the widgets page, it says I’m using only 3. The Recent Post, Recent Comments and Tagclouds cannot be inserted.
Other than these nitty gritty issues, I was quite please with the overall look of this BlueSensation Theme. It’s clean and neat. Though it has provisions for 125×125 ads in the sidebar, I commented it to noshow as I do not have any advertisers. All the plugins I used were compatible and nothing broke. The only thing left now maybe to design a new header and I should be using the Wordpress Template for some weeks to come.
Update: I don’t know the reason, but i could be a bug in WordPress 2.6. I only manage to get the widgets back after I went back to my previous theme to remove them from sidebar 2. It seems that if you have a theme that has 2 sidebars and you replace it with one that has a single sidebar, the widgets in the second sidebar will not show in your new theme unless you have removed it from the previous theme. I could be wrong though.

Hi Costa -
You put a lot of effort into customizing the theme - maybe it would be simpler to start with a theme that has your favorite features already coded in
- Or do you just enjoy the challenge??
I like the wide nav column in this theme, makes it a snap to pop in some of the bigger widgets. Magic for a decent sized slide show for instance.
LOL, yes Rhys, I enjoy messing around with themes and I change them like I change my underwear! So I can never imagine meself to use a single personalized theme as I might get bored with it very quickly.
