Problogger’s New Theme

I am a great fan of Problogger as you might guessed by now. I am also a great fan of Chris Pearson as you might also have guessed. Darren Rowse gives very practical blogging tips and Chris Pearson designs very practical Wordpress themes. When Darren said he was having his theme upgraded, I had a good feeling that he will be getting Chris to do it like his previous one and like the one Brian Clark of Copyblogger had recently. I was also secretly hoping that he might release his old theme for public download so I was waiting, rubbing my palms in glee, waiting for the day for the day. :-) I was quite disappointed when I read that it was not Chris that will be working on the new theme, but let’s wait and see if Darren will open his old theme for public download.

I am no theme designer or graphic artist, but the theme looks really professional befitting his namesake, Problogger. Goes to prove that a professionally designed theme does looks much better than the free ones that we get for free. Looks aside, of course the functions included are custom built to suit the owners needs and taste.

Since I will never be able to afford some professionals to design my themes and my own theme creating effort has more or less gone to the drain, I choose the second best option. That is to use a free theme that is created by a professional designer like Chris Pearson. I have used many themes before, but I don’t know if it is phycological or what, but I have a feeling that themes done by Chris gets me better search results as all his themes are done with Search Engine Optimization in mind and he is not stingy with his coding skills in his Free versions.

I think I said it before, that when you look for a new free theme, don’t go for looks alone. Check and see if the designer has specified that he has Optimised it as we are no good with optimization of themes ourselves. Don’t bother with those that says Adsense Optimized. It won’t increase your click through and whatever they have included, you can easily do it yourself. It’s the codes and the way the codes are written that attracts Search Robots that is important and I think that is beyond the capabilities of a blogger who has no prior training in that area.

If you are wondering, the theme I am using now is also from Chris Pearson. He has 2 other theme, the Cutline and of course the Copyblogger, the one that I was using until 2 days ago. All his themes are properly Optimized and he gives good tips on his blog for those who wants to optmiize their themes for better Search Results.

Like you, I like Chris Pearson’s work as well.

I’ve been through quite a few themes on my blog so far, but I do notice that when using Chris’ theme, there’s a marked increase in the returns from AdSense ads so far.

I tried a Web2.0 style the other day but it was way too cool for my liking. Now off to check your recommendation. Your Ahpek aka my food blog theme is great for Adsense as well.
