Replace Your Default WordPress Theme

by Costa on April 24, 2009

So you have got your very own hosted domain and you have uploaded WordPress. Before you go fully online you will of course need to do some configurations or maybe go hunting for a suitable Theme for your planned blog. During this period of time, your blog will be loaded with the “Hello World” post in the Blue Kubrick Theme that comes in default with all new WordPress Installation. Very boring..

To make you and your blog look much more professional, you should show an “Under Construction” page so if you have some visitors coming during that few days or few hours of hibernation, they will know you are actually alive. Otherwise, people will think this is another dead blog that failed to take off.

It’s easy to construct such a page if you know how. If you don’t, then use this brilliant theme by Lim Cheng Soon of Netizens Media. Titled appropiately Undercon, this very simple theme has only one page showing a simple but very elegant design informing your first visitors that your site or blog is under construction.

The Theme is fully customizable. You can change the words and the logo to those that suits your blog, so even if you have an established blog, you can load it up while you are doing some maintenance on your blog. Very useful. I think WordPress developers should incoporate such a Theme as their default. If they want more publicity, they can change the logo to the famous “W”
