Taking a blog hiatus will not help your blog.

People say, when you have a block, take a hiatus and you will come back refreshed and full of ideas. I took that to be true. When I do have a block, I stop totally for two or three days and indeed come back with some fresh ideas. On the other hand, if you are having a roll and you are all pepped up with ideas, DON’T STOP! Sounds ironic doesn’t it?

Everything works the same way, even with blogging. When you are having your day, make use of that day to make a home run. There are days when you can’t seem to run out of ideas and you can write 2 or 3 good post in a row. There are days when you at least come up with one. If this streak is continuous, you can churn out 30 post in a month without any problem until the next block sets in. Some people refer it to a Blogger’s Withdrawal Syndrome. Too much of everything is never good. Then it’s time to stop.

However the reverse happens when you stop smack in the middle of your hot streak. Maybe something unfortunate happened or maybe you just went off for a holiday, like I did for the past few days. After laying off the keyboard for a few days, we turned rusty. All the ideas that was in our heads before we left somehow went missing and we find we have a post holiday blogger’s block. We don’t know where to start. It’s like returning to an abandoned old with the intention of cleaning it up again. We don’t know if we should start from the rooms, the hall or the kitchen.

S o what do we do? Take another day off to recharge by starting to read other blogs first. Do not start writing immediately. Catch up with the latest blogging news first and familiarize yourself with the blogging scene once again. Once you restart, you will discover your touch again. Especially so, if you are a niche blogger. Bloggers who have personal blogs don’t suffer from this Syndrome very much.

Stopping and doing things that are more lively will help personal bloggers. The can post away what happened during their hiatus from Blogging. Unlike niche bloggers who concentrates on one or two topics in their blog, a blogger with a personal blog will have a field day reporting their holidays. Boring post aside.

Now I even suffer on Mondays. LOL. After a break on weekends, I suddenly do not know how to start the first sentence. With the clocking ticking away, arrggh…it is worse than bloggers’ block.
