Please take not that this post is 2 years old and many changes have taken place since. The 3 Column Copyblogger Theme is not available anymore and the site which originally modded the Theme has also been taken down. However, the good news is there will be a latest version of the 3 Column Copyblogger Theme available here very soon and it will be compatible with the latest version of Wordpress 2.8. Subscribe to this blog’s feeds to get the latest update on the release of the Theme.

I am a big fan of Chris Pearson and the themes he designs, thus the reason for this latest change. If you remember, I did not score any success in widgetizing the 3 column Pressrow theme that I was using here. I checked back at Pearsonified this morning, hoping there would be some news that someone had widgetized the theme but was greeted with Chris’s announcement of his latest masterpiece, the Copyblogger Theme.

This theme was previously used by CopyBlogger and when Chris did a new version for them, they released this theme for public download, but not after Chris Pearson had his way with it. I saw the announcement when they released this theme but held back from using it mainly because it had only 2 columns. Today I went hopping again to Copyblogger again after reading Chris’s posting and was pleasantly surprised that they have a 3 column version up for download. The modification was done by the good hearted souls at osCandy.com.
What I like about the Copyblogger Theme

  • It’s done by Chris Pearson
  • It’s Search Engine Optimised. It’s clean and neat.
  • It loads like a rocket
  • It’s easily customisable (with a custom css file included ala the Cutline Theme)
  • Chris has a blog dedicated for this theme’s users where we can get tips to use this theme to the max.

In tweaking and Optimizing this theme for public download, Chris was not stingy. He wrote:

When it comes to in-site SEO (code structure, essentially), the Copyblogger Theme offers what is, to my knowledge, the best possible structure while still adhering to some WordPress “conventions” that I’m not quite 100% happy with.

Regarding SEO, there really is no holding back—I’m not going to put out a product that is slightly less than optimal out of fear of “giving away the house.” As a result, you end up with a markup structure that is every bit as good and effective as one that I would build for myself for private use.

Really like the background color on the sidebars! I’m only a beginner – this is my first blog. But any guidance on how you did this would be appreciated.
