The 5 SEO Steps That I Did Not Take
Dropped by the The Naked SEO today read about an article title titled 5 Steps To Search Engine Optimization and I think like all other articles I have read, I did not really made an effort to implement. Let me do a breakdown of the 5 SEO Steps and see if I have really done something about it.
Know Your Targets
This is really a tough one. When I started this blog, I did not have ant specific target audience. I was only thinking of writing about my frustrations as a noob who is does not know the finer points of making a successful blog, hoping people who shares the same sentiments will come and share their experience. In the meantime, I was also hoping of sharing what I have learned from a non tech savvy point of view so people like me would not find it so difficult to digest. I think I will only get 5 out of 10 points for this step.
Keyword Research
I get a 2 out of 10 for this step. When I write, I never consider keywords. I just write what comes to mind and seldom do I do any research on any specific keywords that people will use to find me. However, there are times when typing a word comes to mind that it might make a good keyword and I try to use it, and I have never used the keyword research tools mentioned in Naked SEO.
Create Pages
I try to do at least one article a day with contents that I think is good. however, like I said in point 2, I seldom think of keywords when writing these articles. However, I do consider a little when it comes to titling the post. It was something I learned from Copyblogger and CornswallSeo. 5 out of 10, I think.
Site Architecture
I seriously lack this. The main reason is due to my own laziness. I am lazy to dig into old posts to interlink the article in newer posts. I was banking on the “related post” plugin that I use to do that for me. Don’t know if it is counted as Intra Site Links though. I will only give myself 2 points for this.
Link Building
Knew It! It always come down to links. However I think this blog has garnered some good links during the past months, so I think I can give myself a small pat on the back in this area. Okay I give this step a 6 pointer for this blog.
Taking this summarization into consideration, I would say there tons of improvement are needed to make this blog into something respectable.
