A tip by all SEO gurus when we want to our sites to be indexed by Googles is that we must create a site-map so that Googles spiders will find their way to our blogs. I was quite sceptical about this as when I was blogging on Bloggers, I never bothered with creating a site-map and yet I do get hits from Search Engines. However, I had a change of mind when I got myself involved in some paid reviews and had a few of my reviews rejected the reason being my site was not indexed by Googles. That was when I realised the importance of creating a site-map for all my blogs,

Creating a site-map is easy as I found out, especially if you are using Wordpress as your platform. I used the sitemap generator plugin by Arne Brachhold. I found it extremely user friendly for a non geek like me. Just download, upload and activate. The next time I update my blog, a site-map will be generated, ready for Googles.

However, I later found out that it was not as easy as that. I found that I have to go to Googles Webmaster’s Tools to add in my blog’s URL, verify it, then add the site-map URL that I have created with the plug-in before Google can index my site. Fortunately, these steps were simple enough for me to handle.

I think this one very good tip that I learned from SEO gurus. Sitemaps does helps when it comes to Search Engine Optimisation.
