Like usual, Grizz posted another fantastic post on How To Make Money With Adsense. Don’t let the over-abused title fool you. The things that Grizz tells you is not what you have read from those parroted tips that you have read a thousand times. For instance, he says,
The layout of this blog goes against all the conventional wisdom of how you should set up a blog. Keep this in mind – all that wisdom is about attracting readers – not making money. People don’t click if you get them reading. About 7% of the people who find this site through Google click my Ads. The uglier I make the site the higher this percentage gets.
LOL. This is my first time reading a blogger telling me that he purposely makes his blog ugly so he can have his readers clicking on his Ads and he made more than 10k form all his “ugly blogs” In all fairness, Grizz’s blog is not ugly at all. It is just plain. I even noticed he removed his fancy photo-shopped header. Another attempt to make the blog uglier perhaps? And here I am, forever looking for new and fancy themes for this blog.
Shame on me!!
I have been wanting to monetize this blog. So far no joy. First, I don’t think I will ever be able to get back my Adsense account after the sabotage by some arsehole some months back. I have appealed, but I don’t think Google ever listens to those appeals. They can afford to loose some Adsense publishers for I bet they receive hundreds of new applications each day.
After the sabotage, where my “friend”, who somehow or rather, loved me so much to click on my Ads for 125 times within the hour, people have told me that not to take it too hard. There are others like Bidvertiser and Adbrite. If you are in my same shoes, tell them to screw off. Other companies will never give you the kind of relevant Ads that Adsense serves and it is a big waste of time trying to earn money from them.
So what do I do? For a blog like this, there isn’t much I guess. I have stuck in a couple of affiliate banners, but like most of these programs, commissions are only paid when a sale is made which makes it doubly hard as compared to being paid by clicks. On top of that, most Advertisers don’t accept blogs from this region, so I am not able to put up Ads that I feel visitors of this blog will like.
Another way will be to make this blog so damn popular so I can start selling some Ads myself, but that would be like waiting for the cows to come home. On second thought, even cows Do come home after sometime, no matter how late, so in my case, it would be better described as waiting for the mama pig to climb up the tree. Yea, that would be a rather appropriate description. LOL!

Hi Costa,
My heart goes out to you. It’s a fact of life that American companies provide the bulk of online advertising budgets and they are most definitely stuck in the N. American market. It’s a shame that Companies in Europe and SE Asia really haven’t stepped up to the plate when it comes to online marketing. Not sure why this is as both regions have the ability to do so. I suppose in time this will change but small consolation to you now.
I wish I could help with your monetization but I am at a loss , I do know this much – you produce quality content and if you keep plugging away I’m sure you will eventually attract the advertisers. Stay clear of my ugly blog technique if you want to attract them though – it only works for adsense. lol
Thanks for the nod and I hope your fortunes change for the better soon.
ps. My ctr went up a point after I took off the header – what can I say, ugly rocks!
Well, ugly won’t help if you do not have ads for them to click on.
Maybe look into Scratchback and other types of advertising. Otherwise, find products you like and use and tell us why they might work for others.
You could make your own product and sell it. There is no need for it to be expensive. Jon Leger (who made the $7 Secrets system) has had lots of success with $1 and $2 products.
You could also go and “help” all the other Adsense publishers you can (using proxies). Eventually Google would have to stop using similar clicking patterns as a reason to drop publishers like you. I am joking about that in case anyone takes me serious.
Just some ideas. Think about your readership and what would interest them. Smilies and screensavers – maybe, but how about other things that anyone on the internet need or might use.
