Every blogger is obsessed with having Links to their blogs. Some leave link baits hoping others will take the bait. Some whore for them, giving people certain benefits in exchange for their links. Some who has money to spare, just simply buys them. Now what is so important about having links in our blogs. Links converts. That’s why. When you have good relevant links coming to your blog, your chances of getting a good Page Rank increases, When your get a good Page Rank you chances of appearing in the top ten bracket of GooGle Search increases. When you blog appears among the the top Searches, you get hits. More hits means more visitors. More visitors mean…….. you see where all this is heading? it started with Links.
So how the hell are we to achieve our ambitions to be the greatest linkwhore in the world wide web? The 100th. tip on Seobook’s 101 ways to Build Link Popularity in 2006 says,

Spill coffee on people or find creative ways to insult people to coax them into linking at your site.
That’s one way i guess. Out of the 101 ways that is.
Eric Ward, the link building specialist ended his article titled What Makes a Site Link-Worthy? with a a sentence that says it all.
Because useful content gets linked. Products don’t.
Of course the mother of all link baits is to write a post about link baiting and then linking all the articles on link baiting that others have written in that post. In fact it is the most effective in whatever topics.
Another one that I have seen succeeded many times is to do some research and name your top 50 most influential bloggers or most popular bloggers in your country. All the 50 bloggers will brag about it in their blogs. You get 50 links and of course maybe another 50 from those who are looking for some breaking news to write in their blogs. Not to mention their readers who will be coming in droves to check out your list.
