When Darren started his 31 Days project, I threw myself a challenge to see if I too, can come up with 31 tips of my own based on the experienced that I went trough when implementing tips that I have read from Problooger.net and various other blogs when I first started. Looks like I am slacking seriously. Darren is already into his sixth tip and I have only 3 to show, but then of course I’m no problogger, so I self consoled myself for the slack. Darren’s fourth tip and assignment to his readers is:
Again this is one tip that I tried and got lazy of making it a habit. I only interlink my posts occasionally and most of the time, I take the consolation of having the “related post” plug in to do the job. I can safely vouch that this tip does indeed increase page hits and should be practised regularly by all blogger. My tip to supplement this one is a simple one that I think most who has been blogging in WordPress would already have realised by themselves.
Use the Search Post Function to Look for the Post you want to Interlink.
Most of the time, when I want to interlink a post, I don’t need to go and dig into the Archives Page. Some blogs don’t even have an Archive Page because the theme they are using don’t provide for such a page, and they must create one themselves with some plug ins. So the fastest way to look for the post that you want to interlink will be to use the search function in your blog.
I think this function is the least used function in our blogs. You can type in the full title of the post that you are looking for or if you can’t remember the full title, you can just type in one or two keyword that you have used for that post’s title and the search will return results for all the post that contained those words.
Alternatively, you can also find that function in your Admin panel. Just go to Manage and you will see the “Search Post” option on the left hand corner and like usual, type in the Post title or the keywords used. If you have forgotten totally the whole Title, you can also dig for that post by browsing the category that you posted that post in or by browsing the Month that you posted that post.
Now I have no more excuses that I can’t find the post that I want to interlink.
