Using WordPress Themes For Bans
I often doubt myself when it comes to SEO and getting traffic to my blogs and sites, so I depend a lot on some very generous blog buddies for tips and guidance in this area where they are real experts. Along my way into building Bans, I learned that the most effective way to get sales and earn commissions is to get very targeted traffic which means those who has already made up their minds to buy something and they are surfing the net, looking for that something.
Working on this basis, I tend to concentrate my keywords based on what anyone will look for when they were shopping for something rather than looking for general information. So when I built a new site yesterday based on the words, Solar Energy I concentrated on the words like Solar Water Heater or Solar Lights even though the search hits from both these words are substantially lower than the general term Solar or Solar Systems. It is my opinion that when I want to search to shop for solar water heaters, I would type those exact words instead of just typing in “solar” in my the search bar.
With this in mind, I find the basic Bans templates works very well. Though I have been taught that we must have lots of contents so that search engines will have more to index that site on, I try to keep my words to a minimum simply because I do not want those who are looking for general information to flood the sites but not buying anything. All I have would be a short introduction on top of every page with the keywords and another very short ending at the bottom.
I think that is the reason most if not all my sites gets less than 30 hits per day, but among those 30 who visited, I can almost be guaranteed that there will be one sale at least. Now this brings me back to the topic of today’s post.
A couple of days before, lots of Bans got de-listed by Google due to some unknown reasons, but the main suspect is placing Google Adsense in those sites because Google does not like sites with no appropriate contents serving Adsense. Realizing that, some have started to advocate using WordPress Themes for Bans rather than sticking to the few default layouts.
WordPress is undoubtedly the best blogging platform around for practising SEO as it offers tons of plugins and widgets to get the Search Engines looking into their blogs. If done properly, traffic can come in droves. This will be fantastic for those who makes their money with Adsense in certain niches, as they will be getting very targeted traffic, those looking for information on the niche that the blog is based on.
However, like I mentioned, traffic looking for general information and traffic looking to buy something is totally unrelated. I might be interested to buy a Sthil Chainsaw, but I will not be bothered about how to use a chainsaw. Those who wants to buy a Chainsaw are already quite adept in using one so if you have a blog teaching people to use and maintain a chainsaw, I doubt it will interest these group of people. What they want is to buy one, not learn how to use one. Those wanting to learn are not ready to buy one yet until they master the knowledge of using one and these group of people will be highly beneficial to those who are blogging on this niche, but not selling this niche product. They will be clicking on those relevant Ads like no tomorrow.
Since I am in the business of selling products rather than offering information on such products, I would rather keep that group of “learners” away from my Sites. Thus, when the advise of using WordPress Themes for Bans to get lots of traffic and not offend Google with a “contentless” site with Adsense, I will have to beg to differ. Anyway, I still wonder why anyone selling products with Bans will want to insert any other competing products and Advertisements to lure their customers away from what they are trying to sell. But then of course, the Ads might actually make more than what they sell, so I really have no comments about this. As for me, I think I’ll stick purely to selling what I want to sell. If I want to have other products or want to place Ads, I would rather start another blog just for that purpose.
