Something unique is something that is found no where else, so in theory, to write a unique blog article, you have to write something that no one else has written. Legend has it that if you can come up with such articles regularly, you will be well on your way to blog stardom.
In chasing this legendary formula to success, bloggers the world over have been trying to churn out articles that are unique or at least seemed unique to them. Some succeeded and found the glory they were seeking. Many failed and faded into oblivion. The majority remained ‘zombied’, living a half life, neither dead nor alive, lurking aimlessly in the Blogosphere.
Many never gave it a thought, but the fact remains that most of us is not J. K. Rowling or maybe even half of a J. K. Rowling. We have never told ourselves this fact, so we have never considered this fact when we are writing an article.
I have to disclaim that I am not really a true believer that unique contents or unique articles ALONE leads to the success of a blog. There are so many other factors involved. If Rowling started a blog under a different pen without anyone knowing it’s her blog, do you think she would make it as big? Similarly with Rowse, Chow and Jeremy. If they apply what they have been teaching you in a new blog started by them under an unknown name, do you think the blog will be as successful even if they can churn out unique contents twice a day?
We must realize that there are millions of blogs out there and millions of others are writing articles that are far better than us. Perhaps the argument will sound more reasonable and logical if we say blogs with unique, interesting and informative contents will stand a much better chance of making it out of the woods. Taking the first step and getting found by others who shares the same interest in what you have written is the tough part. Only after that can your contents starts playing the part of getting them to stay and to return for more.
What then, are unique and interesting articles?
My reckoning would be:
- Articles that contains information not found anywhere else.
- Articles that contains similar information but written in a different and more entertaining way.
- Articles that contains no information but written solely to amuse and entertain.
- Articles that are nerve wreaking.
- Articles that are mind boggling
- Articles that are emotionally stirring
Now if you sum it up, every article you have read, unless copied from somewhere else, can be considered unique in it’s own sense. Even a post about taking your dog for an evening walk is unique by it’s own standard.
That’s why blog gurus coined up the term, ‘Pillar Articles”, which in it’s basic sense, are articles that acts as pillars to your blog. With good strong pillars, your blog will stand strong against even the strongest tornado. It is very sound advise, problem is the impeding tornado seems to be avoiding your blog and it is nowhere near striking distance. What you feel is just a slight breeze not strong enough even to rustle a few hairs.
Then of course, all is not lost. You have a good strong blog, one day, maybe just one day, someone with the power of ten tornadoes will come around, give it a good blow and lift if off the ground. In the meantime, you wait…..and I’ll accompany you…. ha ha ha….
