Is Kind Of A Big Deal really kind of a big deal? I just noticed two big names in the blogosphere claiming to be kind of a big deal.
From the day I started reading Quick Sprout, the blog by Niel Patel, he has been saying that he is Kind of a Big Deal. So, I guess he must be the real deal.

On the other hand, from the day I started reading Shoemoney, he was something like a guy with the “Skills To Pay The Bills” and he wasn’t a big deal yet. However, today I noticed that he too has become Kind Of A Big Deal.

So who is really kind of a big deal here?
Updated The Day After: Looks like Shoemoney is no a a big deal.

For those who are new to blogging and do not know what the heck I am ranting about or maybe those who do not give a hoot about their blog titles, go to both those blogs, see the words on your browsers title bar, that is the bar on the top of your browser. You will see both the blogs titled with the same exact words. Coincidence? Great minds think alike? Hmm.. most probably.
Okay since I have started, lets talk a little bit about our blog titles. According to SEO experts, your blog title is the most important part of our blog. Those are the first words that search robots read when they come a crawling because it sits smack on the top most portion of your site. Then it will follow up reading your blog description. So theoretically, if your blog title and your blog description is aptly worded in accordance to your niche, the robots will have a first hand knowledge of what your blog is all about. This is suppose to do wonders for your blog’s authority over that niche and it will give you an advantage in the SERPs.
Those who follows this teaching, yours truly included, takes great pain to brainstorm a good and relevant title accompanied by a good and relevant blog description with the right amount of keywords that we hope to rank for inserted inside those 2 areas.
Now obviously, our 2 great friends do not care much about this as their names alone is already ‘big’ enough to overcome this shortfall. Even without Google, they get tens of thousands hits per day coming from everywhere. You and me? We had better not follow their style lest our blog starve to death from lack of visitors. Someday when you grow as big as them, you too can start using some exquisite and sophisticatedly worded blog title. In the mean time, we need to scrap whatever small advantage we can find. Even Matt Cutts advises that you title your blog appropriately so his robots can see more clearly what your blogs is about.
However, to have a well optimized title and at the same time one that looks cool is hard to compromise. The keywords you want to use might not be fanciful enough as as whatever you enter in your WordPress General settings will appear as your Title and your Description. In comes, WordPress plugins. There are a few like the very popular All In One SEO plugin lets you overwrite your title. So if you have Titled your blog, “My Personal Blog” or something as lame as that, you can enter the keyword rich title and description in these plugins and that great title will appear as your blog’s title in your browser bar for the convenience of our friendly neighborhood search robot. BTW, Google stopped reading meta keywords, so you can forget about that column.
Now the same goes for your individual post. Today, I have a very unsightly post title, well, to the search robots at least. So before I publish this post, I will be using a different title for the robots. If you are reading this, browse your eyeballs up to the top bar and you will see what this post’s actual title is. The beauty of titling this way is you get a good combination of long tails. For example, ths post can be searched for, SEO Blog Titles, SEO Blog Post, SEO Post Title, SEO WordPress Themes, Blog Post Customizations, Blog Title Customizations, so on and so forth.
This neat little trick can all be accomplished with WordPress Plugins. If, somehow, you hate plugins and never want to have anything to do with them whatsoever, then use the Thesis Theme. This powerful SEO function comes in default with that Theme.

I doubt title is a must for seo. After all, Hubpages does not mean anything to the writers writing about blogging or shoes. And Helium is not about balloon. Yet both are PR 6 sites
Hi scheng,
Thank you for all the comments in all those old posts. Seems you have been going through my archives. LOL.
Seriously and on the contrary, SEO and a good searchable title is a must if you want to win over organic traffic especially if you want to make some money online. Don’t blame you though. It takes time to learn and realize this.
For a very basic example, you still do not know how Hubpages works and why it got such a high ranking for it’s MAIN page. Check all the individual hubs and see if you can find one ranked as high. Same with Helium. Imagine Hubpages as Blogger and all the blogspot blogs like yours as individual hubs. Then you will get a clearer picture.
You must understand how page rank works. It is good to know even at present when Google have said Page Rank is no more important. With the understanding, you will know how to structure your blog and go about getting to rank better in the SERPs. NOT in the PR.
Just a small ending advise. You won’t make much doing affiliate marketing like the way you are doing in your blog now. If you are getting any visitors, you will only get curious clicks from those who do not know that all those are affiliate links. Those who know will scurry away like lightning.
Making Money Online is a never ending education my dear girl. No one can just start a blog, insert some links and hope to do good. If it is that easy, every blogger would be a millionaire.
