The Thesis Theme is really one versatile Theme. I customized the latest version Thesis 1.5.1 into a shopping site selling affordable eBooks. All it took was about 8 hours of work to get it right into want I had wanted. In my previous post, Using A WordPress Theme For A Marketing Site, I mentioned that I modded the default Kubrik Theme, but I was an asshole not to have saved a modified copy of the Theme.
The upgrade to WordPress 2.8.1 re-wrote all my codes and the Theme returned to it’s old looks. I had not expected that to happen. I thought with the automatic upgrade, it was only suppose to install the new files. I lost heart wanting to go through the process again, so I decided to use my copy of Thesis Theme instead. The result was beyond my expectation and along the way, I learned lots of valuable new “Hooks”
It’s no secret that the Thesis Theme is the most customisable of all WordPress Themes and I truly belief it now. Though there are some who swears that there are better themes which are free and easier to mod, I beg to differ. There are always limits.
Of course there are other frameworks like the Thematic Theme and Carrington Theme which you can use as a base for your personal Theme customization, the majority who has no in-depth knowledge in Theme coding will be lost and would not know where to start.
The reason Thesis makes it so easy to customize is largely due to the enormous amount of information which is freely available. All one has to do when wanting to mod the theme is to google for the information and with the Thesis Openhook plugin, even a layman will have no problem of screwing up. All they have to do is to cut and paste the provided codes and 99% of the time, it will work.
