Your Blog is Just a Dot in the Vast Open Ocean.

by Costa on September 10, 2007

Do you guys have big ambitions for your blogs? I do, but I don’t. Sounds ironic doesn’t it? I do have great ambitions for this blog, but I don’t have the burning desire to work up this blog. I mean, at the end of the day, there is only that much I can do then sit back and hope for the best. So I won’t be blaming anyone if this blog remains as it is. The core reason is one, I am skeptical, two, I am not willing to spend money to promote this blog and three, I am just too damn lazy to implement what have been taught to me even though it cost nothing but just a little bit of my time.

I think it all stems from me not having enough fire burning inside. Everyone starts blogging with a fire burning bright inside them. When they start a blog, they have this notion that hey, it’s the world wide web, I have something in the world wide web, the whole world will see my writing skills. They will be astounded at my skill and everyone will be clamouring here for more. How difficult can that be. So they post their first article and their second and their third and they waited and waited and waited even more… but no one came.

They were very surprised that after posting 3 kick-arse articles, no one has yet to come and praise them for their superior writing skills. So they go for a little bit of blog hopping and to their utter horror, they discovered that there are so many better writers than them out there in the world wide web. They began to realize that it is indeed a big web out there. They get a little dejected upon this realization that they are far from the best and they are just a tiny dot, no bigger than an ant’s eye in a vast open ocean.

After the fifth post, either they just plain abandon the blog or for those who has enough passion and fire burning, start looking for ways to bring people to their blog. So it is another big hop around. Hunting for information, high and low on how to improve their blogs and they came up with hundred of tips. Tips that needs an effort to put into practise and a greater effort to make it successful and eventually it becomes kind of stressful. Who the hell knew in the first place that blogging has so many technicalities. Isn’t just about writing and posting and people will come read what I have written? And praise me to the sky? It is the world wide web isn’t it? The blog is accessible to the whole world. Or so it seems…

ahaaa…. bloggers should read this because this is one of their daily dilemma. they don’t have to deny it because blog is still blog, not a newspaper where people have to take out their money.
